Sequoia Natural History Association (Publication Catalog)

Introducing CD-ROM Backpacking Trails of the Sierra Nevada. Mountain Image's CD-ROM sprang from the idea that there must be lots of folks who would love to look at a topo map and actually see the countryside...or get a trail-guide book and dream and plan a trip through the area. Well, this innovative idea continued to grow until it included trailhead information, trip descriptions, elevation profiles and much more! The Sierra Nevada includes 2700 plus color photographs accessible in several modes. Short narrated regional slide shows give a broad, general picture of each of the National Park and Wilderness areas covered--Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, and John Muir, Ansel Adams, Hoover, Emigrant, Carson-Iceberg, Mokelumne and Desolation Wilderness areas.

Over 2000 miles of trails have been traced out on the map and described. Specify the length and difficulty of a trip, and Sierra Nevada will provide a list of trips meeting these specifications, allowing you to look in detail at any of them. Select a trail while positioned on a topographic map, or select a trailhead from the Trails button, and instantly obtain information about trailhead quotas and dates, permit issuers, and how to get there. In addition there are over 200 special trips cataloged by miles, region and net gain. You can preview a trip, walk it, then print out the information you want to take along with you!

So walk a trail, plan a trip, locate a feature, use the maps, take a tour or just explore! User friendly and quickly accessible, Sierra Nevada is not only an exciting addition for any hiker, but fun to share with others who have never had a chance to go backpacking or the opportunity to experience the beauty of the wilderness and mountain trails.
